Emma Jean Kemp

I am a sculptor who loves the process of making and playing with new materials; my main love is the tactile nature of clay, but I also love drawing and working with wire.   Most of my work is cast in bronze or resin and incorporates other materials in the presentation of the figures.

My work explores human experience: from how we feel, to how we move.  I am particularly interested in movement and the physical capabilities of human figure.  I sculpt people in motion, as well as capturing moments that define us, to explore what it is to be human.   Take a look around to find out more about my sculptures, for both home and garden.

We love our To & Fro Bookends. They sit on our bookcase proudly, sometimes I split them up onto different shelves.

Through the Years 4
I commissioned Emma to mark two life events, for my wife & myself. It was a great process: experiencing the team effort resulting in 'Through the Years' was so satisfying. The piece sits in our most used room where we can see it every day.

I love the way the climbers are created as a set of three, to show them climbing as a group. It gives so much depth to the design. Even specific thought has been put into the design of the slates, in way climbers are mounted and how the slates sit alongside each other. Brilliant!
